  • Pro tip! Cut a zip-top disposable plastic bag along the corners to make two square plastic sheets (the sandwich size is perfect). Place one of the plastic sheets on the bottom plate. Place a ball of dough slightly off-center; towards the closing hinge. Place the second plastic square on the top. *(If you do not have zip-top bags, cling wrap or parchment paper can work too).
  • When you do use wheat flour to make tortillas, here's a tip: Press the tortilla once, and leave the press closed for about 4-5 seconds. You don't need to be actively pressing it, just leave it in there. Then, open the press, rotate the tortilla 45 degrees, and repeat. This will help avoid the shrinkage of the flour, which happens naturally thanks to gluten.
  • If it’s slightly dirty: Just wipe it with a dry towel and apply a little vegetable oil where needed before storing it.
  • If it’s very dirty: First, wash it with soap and water. Second, dry it very well with a kitchen towel (It has to be 100% dry, otherwise, it will rust). And lastly, apply a little vegetable oil all over the tortilla press and store it.
